Last Wednesday the class began working on One-Point Linear Perspective drawings. The objective is to place forms above, below and across the horizon line. These drawings will be due at the start of class next Wednesday.
Yesterday the class continued working on their color schemes project. These are due Monday morning. Next week we start drawing in One and Two Point Linear Perspective. Bring rulers.
Mary Roll Students continued working on their Color Schemes today. The objective for this project is to gain experience in mixing colors and values. In addition, students can witness the affect of color on composition. In particular, observe how the distribution of weight changes as well as the way shapes advance and recede according to temperature and value. The color schemes above are (L to R) monochromatic: warm, tertiary triad, analogous, split-complementary, monochromatic: cool, complementary.
Bettina Schoefer Gordon Michelle Frydenlund Rio Dominguez Last night the class completed work on the Architectural Improvisation project. Bettina's drawing is a tumbling and swirling composition of architectural forms separated into linear and shape based elements. The light and dark areas are balanced with textural, gray values and patterns. Michelle's drawing exhibits a multilayered space of rectangular shapes of various sizes are characteristics. The dynamics of the composition are attributed to criss-crossing diagonals and high contrasting values. Rio's drawing exhibits a collage-like composition of disparate and similar objects as well as mark-making effects. The composition is balanced with repeating brick patterns and leaf shapes bound together with high contrast values and textures.
